Last week, Starr Commonwealth continued the tradition of honoring local heroes for children with our Second Annual Night of Starrs. Hazel Maxine Martin-Lias from Albion, Brenda L. Hunt from Battle Creek, and Hans Schuler from Marshall were each presented with the Stand Tall Award and celebrated for their dedication to the basic tenets of Starr’s mission: creating positive environments where children and families can flourish.
We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting our second annual Night of Starrs event on April 11, 2018! To celebrate the strong spirit of generosity within our backyard, Starr Commonwealth will be presenting local leaders and champions for children with the Stand Tall Award, which honors leaders that share our commitment of the creating positive environments for children and families to flourish.
Patricia Schaefer has been giving to Starr Commonwealth for so many years even she does not remember the catalyst behind it. “I don’t even remember – it could have been a presentation or a mailing – I’ve just plain forgotten how it all started!” she said on a recent visit.
